I have banked with my bank for more than 30 years. The problem is now every time I go into the bank the person behind the counter always tries to sell me something admittedly always in a friendly chatty fashion but very annoying if you are in a hurry. The thing that really annoyed me the last time I went in to draw some money out to change for euros she said are you opening up another bank account -???  I had to get her to repeat it as I thought I didn't hear her correctly. So I just said rather shortly - no. It is not her business what I do with the money I draw out. Perhaps I am getting too easily annoyed but I just thought it was a blooming cheek.

Oh this is something that annoys me so much!   I have complained in writing twice to the bank about it too.

Nowadays, I go inside the bank and use quick deposit and the ATM machine.    I just don't go to the counter.     I told them that too in my complaints.

On one occasion a young lady behind the counter didn't just try to sell me something, she actually said loud enough for the whole queue to hear "Mrs. M.............you have
£XXX in your current account and we don't advise you to carry more than £XXX in there for safety reasons"      I'm afraid I was quite abrupt with her - I was horrified that she had announced to the whole bank how much I had in my current account.

I don't know if they have improved on this sort of thing now because I never go to the counter to find out!

Yes Ariadne, I know just what you mean, it also happens to me. I bank differently to G  and having read your post I may well write and complain..although what difference it will make is anyone's guess.
