I would say it depends on how independent we have been in our younger years. If we are one of these people who never does anything on their own and depends on their spouse for everything then probably yes, but if we have had a full life with our own friends, social circle, hobbies and interests outside the home and seperate to our partner then no, I think the opposite would be true - the older we get the more confident we become.

I'd probably agree with you there Tali.  I don't actually know of any nervous elderly people other than those who have had a nervous disposition throughout their lives.

Corans Mum springs to mind - I have only known her for the 13 years that we have been together, but from what he tells me she has always been this way. She came from a very small family (back then anyway) and her parents owned a factory, so she must have led a somewhat sheltered life compared to to my own Mum, who was the complete opposite. She was the youngest of 9, born and brought up in the east end of London and her parents had a green grocers shop, so she was used to dealing with and being around lots of people from an early age, which gave her resources and independence. She certainly knew her own mind my Mum, and didn't suffer fools gladly. Must be where I get it from !

Resoundingly NO!  As I age, I simply take things more in my stride, and I believe that goes for most people.

Yes, I think we do.       We have more experience of what can go wrong in various situations and become more fearful of this happening to us.

I hope when the grim reaper calls my underwear will be pristine and I had a shave. If that is fear .......... I've got it.  Grin Grin
